Strange tapping noise.

Featured Posts

This was always my fave verse....

One lunch time Ted saw Ernie's horse and cart outside her door
It drove him mad to find it was still there at half past four
And as he lept down from his van hot blood through his veins did course
And he went across to Ernie's cart and didn't half kick his 'orse

Often, we hear tapping on our narrowboat. It’s the ducks plucking the algae off of the hull - sometimes Grumpy the swan asking for food 🤣. Yes, I named a pair of swans, and over twenty ducks. I have a whole YouTube channel about it! image.jpeg.813028f46c49ca9eeb049d443ced467a.jpeg

Welcome to the forum, Duck. Er, isn't that a goose i9n your photo?

My wife and I often refer to ducks "eating the boat". It's astonishing how much noise they make when they're pecking at it.

I don't mind it once I'm up but I'm not so keen when they wake me up at silly o'clock.

The used to drive my now deceased GSD bonkers. He was very protective of his boat and didn't appreciate ducks trying to eat it! 😅😂

I must have clicked the wrong photo! Sorry, everyone. Anything about ducks, geese or swans, you may want to ask me! 🦢🦆🏞️

I'd like to find out more about these dog masks that ducks are wearing these days.

Do you know anything about why they have started wearing them?

The noise is like a pulse. Approximately once a second for the last 48 hours. And yes it happens with the heating on and off. I've been a liveaboard boater for 4 years now and never heard anything like this. Weird but will check centre lines etc this evening

Is the bilge pump running

I don’t actually think they’re wearing masks. It’s just how ducks are.

You're kidding?!

Well I never. Fooled again, this time by a duck.

Self tapping screws are the worst.

I would imagine the "strange tapping noise" was probably being made by a strange tap.

I only wanted to have an account so that I could post one comment and want to delete it, as a moderator could you do that?

Normally what you post is not deleted unless it contravenes the rules.

I doubt yours will be deleted so just close the door on your way out and leave your post to posterity.
