That was great, the first time ever I got sent home from work because of the weather.

The whole of Brum seemed to be filled with idiots who thought power and speed was the way to handle driving in the snow, mind you my works smart car wasn't exactly equipped for it either :)

Gusting up to 50mph here in Warwickshire but not much rain. Breaking waves in our marina!

Below is the rain radar picture for 10 mins ago. Not much rain in SE midlands ......yet.

....but look at that squal line running SW..NE over southern Ireland and up to Anglesey (the thin red whisp). That is where the serious winds will be ...80mph+ ....along with perhaps the odd tornado. The squal line is moving east so I guess 3-4 hours before it hits here.

The worst is yet to come.

How are you producing that view please Dr Bob?

I'm looking at openstreetmap.org and can't immediately see how. Do I need to sign up and create an account?

Thanks!

Dead easy!

Go to

https://www.netweather.tv/live-weather/radar

You can animate the last 2 hours and if you choose 'weather type' you can see if it is rain or snow.

No need to register. I use it all the time to see if its going to rain in the next hour.

The Missus has just walked in after driving down from North Yorkshire. A tree was blown down onto a coach on the M1 that had blocked inside lane northbound. Its a bit breezy apparently but nowt for a northern lass driving.

I reckon that red line must have reached us here in Mid Wales!
Hope no-one wants to use the Severn in a couple of days time from the amount of almost horizontal rain we're getting.
