New Boy seeking GRP cruiser up North

Hi.

I'm a new boy, joined today.

We had a sailing cruiser on a mooring in the Lake District for 20+ years.

Have now returned to the North East and are seeking a GRP 27/28 cruiser with two cabins, along with a mooring

near(ish) to Thirsk.

Would be most grateful for any advice/leads etc.

What do you mean by two cabins?  2 bedrooms or a centre cockpit?

I think the nearest marinas / moorings would be Ripon Racecourse Marina, or Boroughbridge marina.

 

Which waterways are you looking to cruise ?

 

You can buy a boat anywhere and have it transported to your moorings, don't restrict yourself to looking for a boat in Thirsk.

Re "two cabins"...a centre cockpit would be preferred (28' ?),  but either would be OK., 

Re  "which waterways"....thanks for advice there, would be happy to cruise that area (at the moment!)

I suppose there might be an air draft problem with a fly bridge vessel.

I'm very much attracted by the 1975 Broom 30, just the lay-out I had in mind

(and within budget!). Will try and view in near future.

15k for a Broom 30 sounds pretty cheap, you may find its a scruffy example. LH Jones in St Ives have one for sale at the moment although twice the price. I've always avoided twin engine boats as an unnecessary expense for inland waters.
