Shouldn't the title be "ARS" (Antarctic research Ship)

Second thoughts - Maybe "ARS Sir David Attenborough" is not very flattering.

Better than 'Boaty McBoatface', though (which name has been given to one of the mini submarines carried on board - AUVs, since we're into acronyms).  As you probably know, RRS stands for Royal Research Ship.

The RRS Sir David Attenborough has now left Cammel Laird at Birkenhead, crossed the Mersey and is alongside at Liverpool, prior to sea trials.  Further details on Mike Glostein the Radio Operator's page at http://www.gm0hcq.com/

Edited to add a link to some very good night time views of Liverpool Docks and the ship https://twitter.com/MarkKnowles1302/status/1319375237583077376?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^embeddedtimeline|twterm^profile%3Agm0hcq&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.gm0hcq.com%2F

I hope the ship is powered by solar power and not diesel.

Understand what you're getting at, but the sun doesn't live where it's going. Well, I guess it's there some of the time.

During the time the ship is in the Polar regions, there is up to 24 hours daylight.  The worst sunburn I ever had was in the Antarctic, with the sun reflected from the snow.  The light can be so intense that it can cause severe eye problems.
