Where do I keep it?

CRT online Moorings:

yes you are reaping the benefits of mooring on the cut, you are really next to nature in amongst it, the sights, the sounds, the fresh air,- usually with no fancy amenities like electricity, parking, security or light spoiling the ambience,

but ,bear in mind with ever  spiralling house prices the waterways are attracting a new type of boater, some of which dont play the by the "rules" .

Ive recently paid nearly 3k protection money, (sorry,- for a crt mooring) and when I enquired where my paper permit was, a patronising woman in customer services told me they dont do them any more (presumably saving on A4 paper to buy a warehouse or something) as enforcement can tell by their computers if you have a mooring there-yes I know that -but no-one else does, -hence now a free-for-all, joined by unlicensed boats, noisy generators running at all hours and anti-social behaviour-I can get that stuff for free at home-  so more fool me,I wont make that mistake again, continuous cruising is hard especially if on your own but there is something nice about the variety, and ofcourse you can move if you dont like your neighbours.

We live within spitting distance of a canal but have chosen to moor in a marina quite some distance from home. If we want to explore the canal close to where we live we can simply walk the towpath. We used to moor on the GU but being leisure boaters we found we virtually knew every blade of grass within 2 or 3 days cruising time of our mooring. We now moor in the centre of the country with the option of a number of directions in which we can travel.
