Water rules

Current water regs require an outside tap to be fitted with a check valve, along with such provision for any potential for a hose to backfeed, such as a shower hose. Such regulation would preclude the contamination by 'permeation'. Again, if 'permeation' were to occur, then surely there would be evidence of leakage in the opposite direction.

Looks like something cooked up by someone with nothing to do and all day to do it.

I have customers like that and I bet MTB also has.

Don't know about most but certainly many, and a right pain they are as the hole the water comes through I'd quite small plus the valve means much less water when you are trying to flush a cassette.

 

Strangely, the Elsan at Penkridge is flushed via a cistern but still had one of these fitted.

 

Last time I used the one at Wolverhampton someone had taken a hacksaw to the valve to restore full flow.

A double check valve or other suitable backflow protection device, fitted at the tap is a legal requirement. The rest, relating to hoses, is just best practice.

I'm getting fed up with all these restrictions, a forthcoming ban on diesel engines and now these additional water rules.

 

I'm going to replace the diesel engine with a hydrogen fuel cell and fill my water tank from its exhaust! ?
