nashworth
Hello! I've been trying to top up my antifreeze to prep for the very cold weeks due shortly. I'm still very much a novice when it comes to my engine (Nanni Diesel 4.150 HE) ( http://extranet.nannidiesel.com:8081/Joomla/images/Documentation/FT/FT_EN_4.150HE.pdf ) I need to take a sample of what's currently in the coolant mix, to make sure I don't put the wrong antifreeze in. But when I open the coolant cap, i'm faced with a metal ledge, that wont allow me to put anything into the tank to take a sample... Am I missing something? Do I need a certain tool to remove the coolant mix, or remove this ledge? Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks
Tony Brooks
I suspect its typical for tank cooled engines in that the expansion tank is so small the coolant level is well down on what it would be on a heat exchanger system. A sucker with a length of small bore hose should do the trick. Otherwise fill it to the brim. run for half an hour or so (cap off) and the level shoudl be OK to take a sample.
