We are in the process of over plating our swim and a length of the side. We would obviously like to ensure that any further rust damage is limited. We were thinking of using cold galvanized paint on the seams and other areas. Can we black on top of that please. Soon after. Or does anyone recommend a high zinc primer which can be blacked over ASAP. I know it’s a crap time of year to be over plating. Thank you.

I think that conventional wisdom is that bitumen can attack zinc but not so sure when the zinc is bound into a paint.  Its a crap time of year for painting/blacking as well.

Some on here have sworn by Zinger (a zinc rich paint)

And even crapper for painting. The paint simply won’t stick or cure properly unless in a heated dock.

I've painted jotamastic 87 epoxy (now superseded by jotamastic 90) with a winter grade hardener in these conditions successfully. But you'd have to get any existing bitumen or other paint off first back to bare steel.

The Jotun TDS shows application possible down to -5C

Its a crap time of the year to replace two shock absorbers and brakes on a car too. soaking wet and horribly cold. Nothing to do with boating but just thought I'd have a moan.
