Derek Pye
Just bought a boat with a Kabola E7 boiler - not working at the moment probably because old fuel not getting through. Have removed heater control to service it and noticed a threaded hole in the Underside which clearly should have something screwed into it. Please can anyone tell me what is missing from the heater control and whether I could still obtain the missing part?

It looks as if the problem may be the fact that there appears to be no fuel line connected to it.
Derek Pye
thanks for the comment but I have removed the fuel lines in and out from the heater control to service the unit on the bench. The fuel in and out connections are on the sides of the heater control. The threaded hole I am asking about is on the underside of the heater control. Ex Brummie
This could be a mounting screw hole used to fix the float control at the correct height to the burner pot. The other two holes have screws in them.
Derek Pye
Thanks. Do you mean that so long as I get a long enough bolt with the correct thread that this will do the job? I’ve searched the internet but can’t find any detailed data sheet for the heater control model. Derek
Ex Brummie
Not exactly sure with Kubola but the oil control valve (OCV) is usually mounted on a plate so that it gives an oil depth of approx. 15mm in the pot. I can't make out the model of OCV from your picture, but it looks like the other two bolts are in place, so yes, you just need another bolt of the same thread. It is just a blind hole. Ex Brummie
Just found a picture on a previous post, and am now certain this is a mounting hole. When replacing it all, it is important you get the control and the pot on the same plane, with a depth of oil approx. 15 mm. This is achieved with these mounting bolts. Ex Brummie
Going back to your original post, how far have you been able to trace fuel flow? The bell shaped unit with the button on the bottom is a remote fire valve. If that has tripped, it is reset by pressing the button, but it can take a very firm push on the button. If the capillary has been damaged, then it will never reset. The next valve is the flame failure valve and needs to be manually operated until the thermocouple holds it open. The float control incorporates a safety latch that is released by a lever at the end of the OCV which is either lifted or depressed depending on the make. There is little else to impede fuel except for the filter which is in the bottom of the OCV behind a cover held on by two screws. I've yet to see one of these so clogged up to restrict the flow to any large extent.
Derek Pye
Thanks Ex Brummie. I started out by disconnecting the joint in the fuel line upstream of the heater control, flame failure valve and remote fire valve, which were all connected directly to each other in one line. Fuel came out of the pipe but no fuel came out of the exit from the heater control. I was unable to ascertain where the blockage was. I have now removed the heater control, flame failure valve and remote valve and disconnected them from each other. There was a tremendous amount of debris in all the units so I suspect that the installation has been unused for many years. I have now thoroughly cleaned all components and there appears to be a clear rout through each component and I hope when reconnected to the boiler and oil supply line that this will have resolved the problem. I have also discovered on cleaning the heater control that the threaded hole which was the subject of my initial question has the words 'Over Flow' hard stamped into the body casting. There is no latch on this model of heater control. Thanks again Derek
