Hudds Lad
recently got round to sourcing a new tiller bar and handle , its a bit easier when you can moor outside Midland Chandlers and pop in with bits to be measured. anyway, long story short, whats the best treatment for the shiny new untreated ash handle? I was thinking Danish Oil but have recently read that will make ash go all yellow? thoughts?
PaulJ
A matter of taste really- if its a brass shiny tiller then I personally like shiny varnish.
Jen-in-Wellies
Shiny varnish here after sanding smooth. After twelve years it still looks good, just with a bit of patina.
ditchcrawler
Mine is untreated wood, I like the feel of it
BEngo
Epifanes varnish with UV filter, or Le Tonkinois varnish. About 10 coats needed initially then maintenance coats each year whilst in use according to how much use or exposure to the wrather it gets. Do not let ash get and stay wet. It will go 'orribly black like a neglected Morris Minor Traveller rear body frame. N
