Hudds Lad 157 Report post #1 Posted November 20 whenever I load the forum recently, I have a new friend, here he is; normally on other websites, you click the cross and away he goes never to return. but my new friend is here on every single page I click, no matter what I do. I have all notifications turned off because that's how I like it, but my new friend thinks I should do otherwise. is this a board setting? or is it me I wonder as I've recently had a Windows update, although as I said it happens with no other site after the initial prompt. Kudzucraft 32 Report post #5 Posted November 20 Just making a WAG, but sounds like every time you change pages it is not recognizing you. It thinks you are a new visitor and flashes up the message. Being it is only one computer there is something about it or it's settings. If cookies were off it MIGHT cause that. That is all I got.
Hudds Lad 157 Report post #6 Posted November 21 I've compared browser settings between the two, and there's no difference at all, cookies are set to "Don't block cookies" so colour me confused. I might clear them and try again, see if its some sort of corruption.
Hudds Lad 157 Report post #7 Posted November 21 solved! unless Notifications are turned on in the Action Centre of Windows 10, it seems it will just ignore any preference you have. my little friend is now gone odd how it only happened on this site though, ah well, every day's a school day
Kudzucraft 32 Report post #8 Posted November 21 (edited) Ahhh Windows, why am I not surprised. Glad to found it. These software designers go out of their way to "improve" their software. Edited November 21 by Kudzucraft
Hudds Lad 157 Report post #9 Posted November 21 i was happy up until 7, then I took the semi-forced leap to 10 and massively regret it, everything has been hidden and dumbed-down
Kudzucraft 32 Report post #10 Posted November 21 You are preaching to the choir there. Win10 was the kick in the but I needed and I now use Linux. I do have need of Windows occasionally for a couple of specific pieces of software. So I have mine set up with a Dual Boot with Win7 as the second OS. But day to day. 98% of time it is Linux Mint.
