That was the way I got into sailing.

In the 60's - School sailing club

Mirror

Enterprise

Fireball

Then found power and the rest is history …………………………………...

Now partly reverting back to childhood and the 'stick & rag' again.

Mirror, Fireball for me.With dads Hulrey 22 and Sadler 26 in between.

I always find the Donald Crowhurst story very sad with the infamous Piver designed catamaran.

Thought the comment about Gypsy moth IV not sailing again was a bit premature though.

Cut my teeth crewing in a Mirror for 6 months, then went and bought a succession of these:

No 3 of 4. Named the boat "Tomato Sloop."

Draycote Water. my late brother in law crewing for me.

Fire ball 11464.jpg

Graduated to offshore as well as dinghy racing.

Nice pic. The fireball is a fantastic boat. My current dinghy is a Europe, though I think my sailing days in it are numbered......getting too old!

Yes I watched that - "Maiden". I found it quite emotional (must be getting old)

yup - brought a tear to my eye when they arrived home, all grumpy and depressed, and than as the mist cleared they found hundreds of boats and thousands of fans cheering them home.
