Purchasing an Ex Hire Boat, whats your view?

Base plate pitting @3.5mm on 10mm I  would not worry about.

If it is grit blasted and well coated with epoxy to fill the pits you will not wear it any thinner and rusting should be considerably slowed.

Very best of luck in finding the "One"

Is the "one" also the elusive "one". Most owners I've met seem to always want something changed or added to their boats even articles in magazines about custom new builds sometimes has the comment "next time we'll do this or add that"

Or do you buy the one and try to attain the perfect one

I would suggest that it may be vice versa. When Valley Cruises were recently wound up, it was stated they owned only three of their 14 boats. The rest were sponsored.

This maybe true, the ex hire I have purchased from the owner, not Valley Cruises. He was very helpful, understanding and went many extra miles in satisfying our "wants" and I truely thank him for this.

Brillient and testing journey from Coventry canal to Yorkshire Calder & Hebble.

Started to make it "ours", the real captain! she does know how to "change things inside"

Thank you all for your advice, I have loads of questions I will bore you with later :)

Ah, well done. Glad the trip went well. Thought we hadn't heard from you in a while. ?
