Janey72
Hi there does anybody know about the River Waveney (Beccles) and if it is possible to navigate inwards to the canal network, or only outwards to the sea?? Thanks
rusty69
Pretty sure it isn't connected to the main canal network. You could exit at Gt Yarmouth and connect to the canal (eventually) via the Gt Ouse, Nene, via Boston or the Thames, but these all involve a coastal hop and appropriate vessel. Thanks Navigation wise it appears to be a 'dead-end'. Norfolk Broads (River Waveney - Main Navigation) Explore Add discussion The Norfolk Broads (River Waveney - Main Navigation) is a tidal river and is part of the Norfolk Broads (River Waveney). It runs for 21 miles and 1¾ furlongs from Yare - Waveney Junction (where it joins the Norfolk Broads (River Yare - Main Navigation)) to Shipmeadow (which is a dead end). The exact dimensions of the largest boat that can travel on the waterway are not known. The maximum headroom is not known. The maximum draught is not known. It has junctions with the Norfolk Broads (Haddiscoe Cut) at Waveney - New Cut Junction; with the Norfolk Broads (River Waveney - Geldeston Dyke) at Waveney - Geldeston Dyke Junction and with the Norfolk Broads (River Waveney - Oulton Dyke) at Waveney - Oulton Dyke Junction. magnetman
There are cheap freehold moorings near Beccles.
ditchcrawler
Only to the sea. Once looked at buying a mooring in Oulton Broad but it was the whole dyke
