curlass24
Hello, Am looking to fit a high wall stone shower tray. There is a gap in the flooring to get access to the waste joint, however I;m wondering if it is better practice to have the tray raised a little rather than straight on the floorboards? Have never fitted one before so any other tips / advice around grout, sealent etc to use would be much appreciated! Cheers
rusty69
Depends if you have headroom I spose.
Chewbacka
I went for a very shallow tray so I could fit a folding shower door. Also if the tray is high there may not be enough room to fit a shower rose between your head and the roof.

I’d use tiling primer, which is like a runny PVA and leaves a ‘rubbery’ surface.
stegra
I stuck my tiles on with polyurethane adhesive because of concerns that regular tile adhesive might not cope well with distortion when moving, particularly when being craned. I also used small tiles so that the distortion would be less critical over a given area.
rusty69
Mrs Rusty stuck our tiles on with cork tile adhesive .The idea being nicked from one of the boaty books at the time she did it. They have been up nearly 20 years.
cuthound
Our first shareboat had the tiles stuck to the ply and then grouted with white silicone sealant. No issues with adhesion or mould in the 10 years we were on board.
