If I was interested in buying that, one of the first things I would be asking about is the mooring agreement with CRT that covers 4 boats and permits subletting.

Maybe an old wharf in which case CaRT have no say in the number of moorings.

Or maybe an estate agent who has seen a canal frontage long enough for 4 boats, and just assumed 4 boats could moor there.

I used to deliver fuel to people who lived on a boat on the mooring there, and they definitely didn't live/own the house. I seem to remember there being a second boat there, some kind of small inspection launch that caught fire once. Not sure if that was the home owners boat, but if not that's 2 boats there not belonging to the land/home owner, which does add some evidence to the possibility of them being able to sub let.

If my mind is not playing tricks on me, the bank is set back from the bridge a bit in a sort of 'wharf' type fashion, so you probably could get 4 boats there if they were breasted up.

Was the inspection launch "Stow of the Wold" built by Roger Fuller

There was one there called Amaryllis in 2024 according to Google maps

Turnotheworld, Stow Hill fitout , still moored down there. The property was once owned by someone  who held some position in IWA but that was some years ago. If I remember correctly they also had a boat above the lock

Turnotheworld is moored just below Tilston lock, so  couple of locks up, and has been for at least the past four years.

That location is slightly odd as it is much deeper on the offside than on the towpath side - you are better off waiting for the lock beyond the bridge, opposite Chas Hardern's, than trying to get in to the towpath nearer the lock. I suspect it might be because of the change of line at that location when the flight was realigned and reduced to two locks, which could also relate to the reason why multiple moorings are allowed in perpetuity.

Yes, that sounds right for the boat above the lock as there's a photo of that mooring in the property photos, but none of the ones below the lock.

'The Lockkeepers Cottage' at Langley Mill . An updated canal age house. This was the home for many tears of Eric Dunston who was the Erewash foreman/length man. £650000 but well worth a look .Brilliant neighbours with full Boatyard facilities on your doorstep.

Two bits of land near Fradley Junction with moorings (it said) came up on FB yesterday

On the Middlewich Branch

Pity it is on the towpath side.BW used to allow towpath moorings directly outside your premises, but I don't think that CRT do.
