Size? Looking at a widebeam sailaway. Have been told that I may want to go for 69" over 70". For those that navigate the Kennet and Avon do you have any probs or advice when navigating the locks with a 70" widebeam?

I do not forsee any problems navigating with a 69 or 70 inch widebeam.

I think it is now becoming the 'norm' to actually use 144" widebeams.

Welcome to the forum Fish, please repost your question and I'm sure it will be answered.

Please take note that rusty69 can't count past 69 so your question may of sent him into a blathering dither.

Added blathering as such a good word

Looking to buy a Sailaway, and fit it out.

He wanted advice on Navigating and working the locks on the K&A with a 70" Widebeam

No problem - just under 2 yards long! What he should have said was 70 ft or 70' not 70 inches or 70". I am afraid that is why he did not get the replies he wanted. As I hate the K&A with a 54ft narrowboat I am in no position to answer his question. He should also tell us the beam because of that lock that magically shrunk during maintenance and then CaRT blamed a boater for using an over sized boat.

Yep, that's the bit I/we joked about. OP didn't like it and deleted their account.

This seems a bit of an over-reaction. I can't imagine your ribbing was anything other than gentle Rusty.

Given their adverse reaction to your humour I cannot imagine any of the more frank comments that would have come their way about choosing between a 70ft widebeam and 69ft widebeam were likely to have been well received.

I guess we will never know Mike...............@ Fish floundered.

(know any Marillion jokes?)

Fish is it too late to say I'm sorry?
And Fish could we get it together again?
I just can't go on pretending that it came to a natural end
Fish, oh I never thought I'd miss you
And Fish I thought that we'd always be friends
We said our love would last forever
So how did it come to this batter end?

I PM'd it to you 26th July.

( I thought is was a bit rude not to say thanks for all the effort !!)

If you haven't got it let me know and I'll resend.

Sorry Alan, I didn't get it. I would, of course, have thanked you for the effort had I got it.

Thanks very much for all the effort though.

Relevant part from the PM :

You are lucky - it took some finding but eventually got there.

Sump Plug is part number 201-47470 which replaces old part number 007-00407

Plug Thread is 1/2" BSP

Same plug on 2, 3 & 4 cylinder variants.

I thought it strange that you appeared not to have responded to my PM.
