River Soar, Mountsorrel Lock

Kendorr

Featured Posts

Currently sitting out the rain at Mountsorrel lock, need to travel to the Trent as soon as possible. Some people have been moving today even though the flood board is well into the red. All the sites I've looked at say the Soar is currently navigable.

Is anyone able to point me to the correct place to check?

I've looked on C&RT stoppages, River Levels UK and River level information.gov.uk and all show the Soar to be okay!

Is anyone between Mountsorrel and Trent Lock who could give any advice?

Of course I do realise this could all change by the morning!

Thanks, Kevin

If you are above the lock you should be ok, if below, get above the lock, or get down to Barrow, I have done that section in deep red, stay well to the right bank when going past Rickents wier.(The one before Barrow Boating)

The bridge below the lock at Mountsorrel can become impassable if the water level gets too high.

Barrow is a good place to get stuck, trains to everywhere except on Sundays and lots of shops, pubs.

That's the bottom end because of the wier on the Trent. Further up it is still do-able in some stretches, even when on full pelt.

Sometimes it's actually easier after it goes up over the fields and the flow slows.

Corrected as I see they have changed it to Bridge 2, City Centre.

The worst bit in flood is above that, up to Kinga Lock.
