Can anyone tell me where the visitor moorings are in Newtown on the Peak Forest canal?

No official ones, just stay on the towpath............away from opposite the marina, the winding hole and the long tem moorings!

No.  From the winding hole to Bridge 29 (now stop planked) you can moor, with the odd obstruction.  In happier times go a bit further and you have the best moorings on the canal before Carrs swing bridge.  Not a huge walk back into New Mills.
