Piccadilly basin is very secure. You will need the gate code if you want to get out on foot. Ask one of the locals for the gate code.

Not sure about this but I think I read in a recent blog that the gate code system had been replaced by an electronic key fob for residents.

That's a shame. I haven't been there for a couple of years, it's still a good place for an over night stop though.

It woild be ok if i coild stay on the  oat then

I could be a bit pver worried than i need to be. The boat is rough as hell so nothing can get  roken that will bother me but dont want some scrote letting it adrift.

AZERTY keyboard or is it in code?  Took me a few tries to decipher it!

Quiet places to moor near Waters Meetings may be OK.

Yes - Peover is a bit further out into Cheshire

You have a choice of Over Peover or Lower Peover, and then there is "Peover Superior Endowed School" (for the well 'hung')

Piccadilly Village, secure moorings just east of Store St aqueduct, non towpath side. No need to go in to the basin. No public access, 24 hour stay  allowed.

If you have to leave the boat, I am sure a passing resident (there are many) will let you back in if you explain.

Thanks for the help.  I will take the chance and set off then and try the places suggested.

How long’s your boat?

I managed to slot in here for a fortnight. My boat’s 48’. No hassle at all.

The boat is well watched by curtain twitchers.

Passerbys are commuters.

Had I needed, I’d have felt safe leaving the boat for a night or two.

Not as secure as Piccadilly basin on the other side though.

No it’s not as safe but it’s safe enough.

I think the basin is restricted to 48hr?

I couldn’t see any restrictions where I moored and it saved the faff of requesting access via a coded gate.

I also noticed when I was there a boat had been left, unoccupied, below the bottom lock and appeared untouched and safe.

Most of the area has CCTV and is a canal watch area. Whether that means anything. But in general, I think it’s pretty safe around Picaddily. Especially this time of year with plenty of boats around.
