Manchester Ship Canal ferries

A recent article in the Manchester Evening News mentioned Hulme Bridge Ferry, which still operates in the summer season and is free. It replaced a bridge that spanned the Mersey & Irwell Navigation near Hulme Lock, which also was lost to the Ship canal construction works. A short distance away was the Irlam Ferry. Does anybody know when that ceased?

With Irlam the ferry was moved and there was once a ferry across the Mersey & Irwell Navigation. With Hulme the ferry replaced a bridge and became a free ferry by Act of Parliament.
