The Selby Canal this morning, the bank-to-bank duckweed and Azolla closing behind me.   Are other waterways suffering this so early, or have the heavy rains washed it away?  I would imagine that there must be enormous amounts building up behind Denver Sluice, for example.

Very little down at St Germans Pumping Station at the end of the Main Drain on the Middle Level the other week. But then very little weed elsewhere on the Middle Level.

Why don't C&RT collect it and sell it as biomass?

 

I wonder if duckweed farming would make sense as part of a carbon neutral power scheme?
