Water accumulator/expansion tank

Featured Posts

Hello all,

My Accumulator/expansion tank is leaking and I need to replace it. But then I am wondering...do these systems actually need them, or are they ok to operate without? What are the implications of the system without? All thoughts much appreciated. Thanks

Welcome to CWDF.

Accumulators and expansion tanks are two different things and have different purposes. Is your tank in the hot water, near a calorifier (expansion tank), or the cold water pipework, near a pump (accumulator)? The short answer is yes they are needed, by the way!

Have a read of this recent thread.
