Hi all, another of my Towpath Video's is a walk along the Nottingham Canal between Trowell & Bramcote. The footpath is in excellent condition throughout, and is filled with wildlife :)

Thanks for that - just watched both parts and enjoyed the "walk". What a pity it is still being filled in near Trowell. Nice cycle route down the Nottingham to Bramcote and back up the Erewash - just wish I could do it with the boat.

Sadly it was the London & North Eastern Railway that closed much  of the Nottingham Canal and it was fortunate that the Trent Navigation took over the length to the Trent through Nottingham. Traffic had been in decline for a number of years before the railway company chose to close the main length. It remained in water with locks gradually decaying

C W Hague took some pictures in 1960 which are with the RCHS.
