We thought of mooring at Acton Bridge but  it was a bit early ?. Lymm is a bit far for today. Where do you recommend for pub grub at this end of the Bridgewater?. Having eaten on board the last two nights we are down to the emergencies rations!

Yes, we were at Bramble cuttings last night!

This is turning into an interesting trip! We stopped just after the stop lock at dutton but when we discovered that the tunnel top pub is closed, we were untying kelpie to move forward nearer the tunnel when a "gentleman" who obviously thought he had to keep the yokels right gave us a lecture to the effect that we shouldn't tie up so far back and should move close to the tunnel. We thanked him ?. He proceeded to work the stop lock very slowly despite the fact that another boat had arrived and  it was getting near tunnel time.

When we were more than half way through the tunnel a headlight appeared coming into the tunnel. He reversed back a bit and despite us both telling him that there was a boat a bit behind us and that he still had 20 minutes  to wait, he went straight into the tunnel. As iain said, he possibly thinks tunnel times are for others and not for him.

Have phoned the red lion and they are doing food tonight. Thanks for the suggestion folks

The Red Lion at Moore shut a few months ago...

Your next eatery will be in Stockton Heath. No recommendations off the top of my head but there is a very good chippy - Google "Panny's"

That's interesting, Liam, as I phoned the red lion and they said they did food tonight! However we didn't stop there as a guy fishing from a boat moored opposite said that we wouldn't be able to knock in pins and there's were rings further up. He probably didn't want us to spoil his fishing but we thought it was too near the road anyway and we came on to Stockton heath.

We wandered down London Road and opted for the Cardamon Indian restaurant in the old fire station and it was excellent. I think it is was even better than Shirma Palace at Wolseley Bridge (Trent and Mersey) which we visited often when we moored at Streethay. If you like good Indian food it will is well worth a visit
