Stern Tube

Its not a hard job to do yourself, packing from ASAP or similar firms and a search on here will tell you lots. Thing is though that a good engineer can tell you if your shaft is properly aligned and maybe if the outboard bearing is worn or if a groove is worn into the shaft by the old packing.  Any of this is possible, unlikely but you know what its like when you take your car to the garage, you can start off with a worn belt and end up with a new alternator, water pump and a huge bill.

Has anyone had a Stern Tube repacked at a Boat Yard, if so can you give me any indication as to costs?

Just to be clear. Do you mean stern gland or stern tube. if the latter what is wrong with the tube? Matty has assumed you mean tube but you might not.

OP did say "repacked" so I think it is safe to say he means the stern gland.   Are there any re-packable stern tubes?

No but it is possible he has a leak from on of the tube threads and has misunderstood what someone told him about sealing it.
