Again this is nowt to do with me.

I've just returned from a foray wandering around a curio market, and saw this.

They reckon it's from a bridge … I don't.  I'm not sure where it might originate though. Perhaps from a cut up maintenance boat or dredger?

Also of course it says Grand Union and not Grand Junction.

 

It is a transfer with bits having peeled off.  The backing is steel plate 1/8" thick and not a true square.  Bits of the edges look as if it might have been cut off with a gas axe.

 

Any ideas?
