Anyone have one of these and had issues with the lift pump?

The one we are looking at has started to show symptoms of fuel starvation.

The main and secondary fuel filters exchanged and the air bled out. Still uneven revs and stops/starts generating ac as revs droop.

Starting to think its the lift pump.

Not bad fuel as other diesel appliances ok.

I think Tony had one of those on his last boat, I know he had trouble with some sort of whispergen I will endeavour to find out for you.

How easy will it be to rig as gravity fuel feed to prove or disprove its a lift pump fault?

Tony . Thanks. Never thought of that.

Removed solenoid and tried fuel solenoid test .....and that is ok. Jury rigged tank next.

Update. Jury rigged diesel supply and no start. Diesel is however being consumed presumably via return pipe.

What could it be?

1 Failed hp pump?

2 Solenoid wiring although it clunks open when removed and  tested on a 12v battery.

3 Injector?

How much exhaust smoke or if wet exhaust diesel rainbow on the water while trying to start? Lots of smoke or large rainbow = fuel being injected. A few wisps of fuel of very small/no rainbow = no fuel being injected so look at how the stop system works. Probably a solenoid controlled by electronics to some degree. A stop solenoid being pulsed by a fault might ft your symptoms.

Thanks. Will check that.

There appears fuel starvation.... bleeding after hp pump and before injector shows very little fuel getting through. We have taken off the solenoid on fuel line again and when energising it clicks but the piston does not move too far upwards. Not sure if this isnormal and the little lift just lifts a valve off a seat or the piston needs to travel further upwards to expose the port to the banjo.

The tank is bypassing both main and secondary filters so its not the fuel source.

Its the solenoid, hp pump or stop solenoid.

Mark its a generator, it has a system that keeps the revs constant when under load, often this is the problem it sounds like fuel starvation [which in a way it is] so have a look at the system/linkage and make sure its picking the revs up correctly

We put a real high temp tank on to get better head pressure up to hp pump. No flow fuel getting to injector.  Ordered a new solenoid. It clicks energises but the piston in the 'noid hardly moves.

The engine stop 'noid works fine.

Ok fuel solenoid changed. Still no fuel getting up to injector. Solenoid works and 12v at solenoid when switched on. Stop solenoid works and actuates. Not fuel as the main engine works off same fuel line and we jury rigged a tank anyhow.

Do the HP pumps fail on tbe kubuta engines?

Nv Bled engine many many  cycles no fuel coming out of wet exhaust which is at water level. Stumped.
