dreadnought Posted May 15, 2019 Report Share Posted May 15, 2019 hi all,we just got back from a weekend away and while sorting out the stern tube greaser i noticed a puddle of oil under the engine BMC 1800 so i checked the oil level when the engine cooled down and there was no drop in level,so that left water or diesel,i dipped my finger in to find it was diesel,i then ran my hand under the fuel pump and it came back with diesel on it,so my question is, is there something or somewhere i should check first ? many thanks in advance Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Tony Brooks Posted May 15, 2019 Report Share Posted May 15, 2019 make sure the bleed screws have not loosened. That includes the one and one of the injector pipe banjo bolts if you have one. If all tight and dry then its clean and dry off the pump, run engine, and look for dampmpatches. Some say dust it with talc to help show the damp. john.k Posted May 29, 2019 Report Share Posted May 29, 2019 (edited) if the pump body has fuel running down,check the throttle spindle first..............if you have a reversable governor,or a mechanical governor,the o ring seals can be replaced for a few cents.
