Lock out of action, near Fradley Junction.

Apologise as not exactly sure where this is except friend who posted photo yesterday said they and three other boats had to reverse  though 3 locks and 1 mile before they could wind to head the other way. Near Fradley junction is all I know.

Maybe someone caught it with a fixed bow fender before leaving and on their way

There have been occasions where the collar that holds the gate to those cast brackets on the ground has been lifted off by side fenders

But if you dont have your fenders down you may scratch the guard irons

This keeps happening at Common. The upstands on the quadrant are a bit low and either a bow fender gets caught under a gate beam or someone tries to hold back in the lock, the top paddle is drawn too quickly and the boat surges forward and clouts the gate off.

Last time round, we established that some boaters manage to keep back from the gate (Nicknorman springs to mind) but many of us find it impossible and have to ride the gate when locking up. CRT are usually quite slick at getting a frame rigged and the gate popped back on.

We will update again tomorrow.

We apologise for the delay in resolving.

Original message:

The top end gate has come out of it's cup, it will need a gantry to reposition.

We will provide an update by lunch time tomorrow.

Really hoping this gets sorted quickly, as we're at Great Haywood and are supposed to be meeting people in Nottingham at the end of next week... various people have booked train tickets etc. and it'd be a pretty major headache trying to race round via Braunston etc. instead.

Update on 11/04/2019:

The gate is back in its cup.

We are currently raising the water levels.

We envisage the levels should be back to normal by 3pm, please proceed with caution.

Well done CRT indeed.   :clapping:

Two lots of praise for the Trust in a single day!
