How about just copying their article and pasting it in here? They seem to have no problem doing it to us.

It implies (shock, horror, amazement) that a Council leant over backwards to accommodate a developer, thus screwing over everybody else with an interest,in this case, a Canal society. 

One of the results of the cuts is that councils don't even bother to argue with developers any more - they can't afford the legal fees and the Government just overrules them if they try. That's before you make any assumptions about backhanders.
