Hull survey without grinding off patches

That's usually the case, but it seems reasonable as you are still the boat owner to have the right to reject any surveyor who would damage your coating?

The usual clause is that the prospective purchaser must pay to "make good" any damage caused by the surveyor.

With bitumen blacking it's just a few splodges over the test patches, but with 2-pack that's not making good.

Of course if they buy the boat it's then their problem anyway!

Yes, another vote for Jonathan, he did ours at Tarleton a month ago, but he said "It is difficult to get an indication of the condition of the plate without removing blacking "    and. " It is different when a vessel has been coated in 2 pack as I am reluctant to damage the coating unless the owner or buyer is prepared to make good the areas where access has been gained to maintain the protection."
