Mooring on Caldon canal near Hanley

There are some very good Moorings on the Caldon near the Emma Bridgwater factory with mooring rings just before you get to the electric lift bridge (heading west).  This stretch is quite residential so is probably ok for an overnight stop, definitely ok day time.

It's fine during the day.  There has in the past been trouble reported round the park at night, although I think that was closer to the town than to the swing bridge, and also was several years ago.  I've not heard of any problems since.  If you carry on for the night. there's a good bit of piling to moor to just before Engine lock, and the village just before that (Milton) is good for shopping and also has a fine 2nd hand bookshop, if one is into that sort of thing.  You can squeeze in to moor just after Milton Bridge where the canal widens a bit on the curve.

Spent a night there last year when the electric bridge borked. Very quiet.
