Does anyone know who made their shells?

Were they not shellbuilders themselves? The only one I can find for sale was fitted out by Barbridge Marine, which may suggest that Marque did the steelwork.

I have found another reference on t'internet, to a boat built by Mark Bagnall (who was the "Marque" in the firm's name and fitted out by Barbridge. This does suggest that they made their own.

The guy (Mark) was originally an apprentice then working for the Tim Tyler stable of builders, hence the lovely front ends and way they swim. He set up on his own to produce quality shells in their own right ( I believe over a 100 were produced).

Ta Matty. Yes the shell and bow we were looking at looked high quality hence the question re provenance.

I have a Marque hull, I think he and another chap only ever fitted out one at his yard at Eccles .

Met Mark once about 14 years ago, he saved our bacon when we had a leaky Springer lifted out. He managed to weld the colander up enough for it to be refloated.

Nice shells and he knew how to weld properly.

Marque Narrowboats built their own steel hulls. I worked worked there for over 8 years and joined as an apprentice in the 90’s. 
 

loved working there and being involved in building so many hulls.

Were you involved in building the one mentioned earlier that was sent up to Barbridge Marine to fit out in late 90s? 57' semi trad with a massive side hatch, the guys fitting it out planned to make a lot more to the same design but I don't think they got any sales.

 

If so it's a lovely boat.

Quite possibly, I joined the team back in the early 90's not long after leaving school. I would have been making the tea and cutting metal ready for fabrication back in those days lol
