Hello After another fix, I've just located a steady drip of fuel seemingly coming from the screw for my throttle lever on my BMC 1.5. I can't seem to find any useful information on tips to maybe replace the washer on the screw or if it is something further along into the governor housing. Has anyone had this issue before and if so, got any tips? Thanks!

Hi All :) I am planning to buy narrowboat and making my budget predictions. I know that most of older boats have nonplastic water tanks, black water tanks and sewer tanks. I would like to take out all of them and put in only plastic black water tank and fresh water tank (as composting toilet is my choice). How much of the flooring I will be in need of removing to do that? I am ready to remove as much as needed (I am planning to put new insulation and wooden floors, so that's not a problem). Maybe someone has experience with this kind of project and could give me some advice? I could not find any articles or YouTube videos on that... Thank you :)

advice please, time has come to take out and reseal twp windows. want to know the easiest way to do this. Have been told that I need to extract windows, clean. then rub down frame, vactan, primer coats (2?) then pre coat then top coat (3?). When finished that replace windows etc. This will mean putting the boat under cover which may be problematic. Do I really need to get all those coats onto the body before I can put the windows back in as this will mean at least a weeks work with some days being only an hour or so. Welcome any views or past experience.

My boat has a water pump labelled FLOking 10 (12v 3.6a 10l/min 30psi) which must be around 12 years old and is becoming a little incontinent. It's mounted vertically on a bulkhead close to the tank with a 1/2" input/outlet via a mesh filter. It seems to be leaking from somewhere on the pump chamber body. Does anyone know if/where I can source a repair/service kit? FLOking now seems to be US only and the model numbers listed are up around 5000 so I'm guessing a model 10 is not current. Alternatively, what about a value replacement - we are occasional boaters so it would not have a hard life.

Hi, I'm new to the forum and unfortunately I have a question and need help already! (BTW this forum has been invaluable when we have been researching- so thank you to those that keep it running.) The boat (2001) we just got surveyed has come up with a good hull (somethings to put on the 'to-do' list but nothing to worry too much about). However, the engine (beta- 28) is leaking- oil and water, and the thermostat (I forget the name of it- though it was the thing that is connected to the engine to tell you how hot the engine runs) has been disconnected. The suggestions made were that this engine could take between £1000 and a £a-new-engine to fix. This is our first boat, and so we would like to ask do you think it is worth continuing with the sale, in a similar situation would people usually walk away when confronted with replacing an engine? In your experience, is it best to have the brokerage deal with fixing this issue before we proceed with purchasing, or should we negotiate on the price and then find our own place to have her fixed? On the brokerage website it states that boats will be repaired following a survey- and that if we put in a lower than asking price offer (which we did- £2000) lower than the repairs- if they fall within that range will be up to us to cover. So if the repair costs £2000 they say that the owner has already paid that by accepting the lower offer. But, that's crazy because we put in an offer of what we were happy to pay for the boat- not what amount we were hoping to repair!!! Arrrr! Many many thanks for any replies Anna
