I have a question regarding living on a boat and claiming Universal credit. I have recently unfortunately had a relationship breakdown where I was living with my ex partner and since splitting have found it difficult to find affordable housing. The option may be there for me to reside on a boat for a period of time. I'm currently claiming Universal credit and was wondering if anyone can give me any advice or information as to what fees are eligible to be paid. The Boat is not morred at a private mooring and the owner has a continuous traveller licence.

We’re selling our 43ft narrowboat to get something bigger. The buyer of our current boat wants a survey done (of course), however we’re still living / working from home on her and it will be our home until the sale goes through. Has anyone experienced this at all? I’m 6 months pregnant and it’s a national lock down, so just a little confused where I’m supposed to go for the whole day whilst this is happening. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Hello! Maybe a bit of a shot in the dark here- Im wondering if any boat dwellers out there who use a twin tub happen to know if Twin Tub UK (twintub.co.uk) has gone bust? We have a twin tub from them, bought brand new, 1 year old with a 5 year warrantee, and it's broken. I've probably called them and left a message about 30 times over the past months, as well as emailing a few times. Never any reply... even if I dont mention its re a broken twin tub or press the option for sales. Still nothing... Wondering whether to just pay out myself and use a private engineer, though I thought i'd try this first just on the off chance someone out there has some info on the company. Ooh, as a secondary request- if anyone could recommend a twin tub engineer or someone up to fixing it that'd be ace, as it is looking like we may need to go that route and just pay for it ourselves. It is a problems with the electics. Many thanks! Happy boating, Jeni ok- Just found this online- The latest Annual Accounts submitted to Companies House for the year up to 31/08/2011 reported 'cash at bank' of £0, 'liabilities' worth £0, 'net worth' of £0 and 'assets' worth £0. Twin Tub (uk) Limited's risk score was amended on 29/08/2013. So they are bust i guess. Any tips on people able to fix twin tubs? We live in North kent and its an electrical problem. Thanks!

With the weather picking up, the sun shining and the lovely daffodils coming through i have been taking stock of the last six months... Moved onto Vidar late August 2015, was a lot quicker than i had planned due to marriage break up, i recall sitting there the first night, feeling of walls closing in on me, a little lonely, not really sure what i was going to do, how it was going to work out. 6 months later i have made good work on bringing the boat more in line with my living requirements, new kitchen almost finished, everything i need to live properly, washing machine, full size cooker, fridge freezer, warmth!! ... I have learnt so much, but.. i have so much more to learn and i cant wait, i have made mistakes, got stuck, hit other boats, lost things into the wet stuff and i am sure this will continue, biggest lesson learnt is check for stoppages, going down the Atherstone flight two weeks ago to get told lock 11 is closed was not a good moment, having to reverse back up to lock 7 was interesting to say the least! I read the forums most days, i dont say much, but i do pick up information, i try to ignore the haters and the squabbling as for me its all about enjoying life and standing on the back of the boat with a beer/ mug of tea and enjoying what is around me. So anyone who reads this who is thinking of buying a boat, do it, you only have one life and its not that long really.... Photo of the first daff in the marina last night. Bring on summer!

Goof morning, hope you all well. My fiancée and I live aboard a wide beam. We have recently purchased land in Gloucester on the River Severn not far from the city centre. It runs along side the river and we would like to moor there. The local council are telling us that we need planning permission for this. Whenever we question the legality of it, they seem to back peddle and change there mind about what and how to we do this. It almost seems like they just want to charge us for something we don’t need Can anyone please point in the right direction of what to do next. Much appreciated

I'm not new to boating but like many I still have 'admin' difficulties occasionally but I've not come across this before. A friend of mine who is moored close by lost his bank card last week. So he phoned his bank and asked for a new one to be sent to a care of address as he was 200 miles from home. He was told no, so he asked for it to be sent to a branch. And again he was told no. However he could change his home address to his care of address and when his card and pin turned up. He was to call the bank and change it back again. When he asked why that was more secure he was told by the operator that she didn't know, it's just the new system. Surely giving a true c/o address is more secure than giving a bogus home address? Sounds a bit odd
