  1. No natives at Tixal. Only otherwise sensible narrowboaters doing figures of eight at full speed.
  2. Safe wind speed is given as 55m/s = 123 mph. That would be interesting. As ditchcrawler mentioned the cables look a little thin to handle 3000w at 12 v = 250a. Would need to be at least 90mm2. CE marked of course (Chinese Engineering).

  4. Did you call Gt Haywood marina ? Next one would be Streethay on the Coventry or Shobnall and Midland Chandlers on the T&M.
  5. Soar Valley boat builders at Redhill might do it for you.
  6. My dad had one too and it’s in my shed. I made an adaptor to fit on a hose so that I can use all the different fittings that came with it. Hose pipe ban ??
  7. Middle section closed at the moment due to low water levels. Nice canal with an undeserved reputation. Excellent moorings and boatyard at Langley Mill - well worth the trip.
  8. How common is this problem ? Why don’t the prop builders test them in a tank or something ?
  9. Thanks for the advice. Turning into a warranty claim and probably will change the prop.
  10. Had a new 17 x 11 prop fitted a week ago when the boat was in for blacking. Also had a new cup fitted to the skeg. First trip out today and the prop howls between 1200 and 1400 rpm (engine speed). It is so loud it is unbelievable. Old prop was 17 x 12 which was a little bit over propped, and had a couple of dings but was completely quiet. I now wish I had never changed it. Any suggestions apart from a new prop?

  12. Made my sailaway 15 years ago. Good fabricators using 10,6,5 plate. Not sure if the same people are there but was a good experience at the time.

  16. If OP registers for VAT he will have to pay it and add it to the rental. OK if you rent to a VAT registered company as they can reclaim it but not for private renters.
  17. Eyup, Brian Blesssed was / is president of the Friends of Cromford canal. He is erudite and sophisticated just like us lot up here at the end of the Erewash.
  18. Is it a live aboard ?
  19. Fuse is likely to be high capacity. Better in a fuse box than lying on top of the battery bank or hanging in mid air.
  20. I used to love the street food when working in India and never had a problem. Local Indian staff wouldn’t join me because they would be off work for a couple days afterwards.
  21. Did a search on here and the Swan got zero stars in July 2011. So an improvement then.
  22. I remember the good old days. The metalwork teacher would fasten your tie in the vice if you were naughty. Had to stay there until he released you. Teachers a bit soft these days.
