  1. Apsley marina, BWML run. Is probably your best bet to start with, then you can look around the area. Don't fall for the buying a boat on a residential mooring though, this will artificially inflate its price.
  2. As long as you are considerate then there's no problem. Some of my best boating has been at night. Get someone else steering and sit up front beside the headlight and enjoy the bats inches from your face.
  3. The half cut carrying company. There was a boat called the jolly todger.new owner changed it. There was a small boat called the jolly todger . the new owner changed the name!
  4. I find that it can be better to use the work boat as a lock landing, no chance of running aground by the bank.

Thank you for all the replies! It wouldn't be the forum without some kind of disagreement! All answers appreciated. I just want to make sure that our efforts create the best most realistic results. Which boats to you knowledge are the best example of a motor and butty in these colours.

Laurance I was looking for exactly what's on your list. The bulls bridge layout/ colours. I believe that was how Banstead was painted in The Bargee? Do you have any RAL numbers for the paint colours? Thanks Ben

Thanks Dave. It would be interesting to know what he used. Ben
  8. We decided to re paint both boats over the summer! Can anyone please help with the right BW colours. The yellow I currently have is a bit orange. I would appreciate any help. Thanks Ben
  9. Wow. Amazing. Good rescue. A wood pigeon falling asleep and falling out of a tree onto a female friends lap while having a BBQ doesn't even come close!
  10. Pair of kingfishers near our mooring. Love to see the red kites overhead. And while in Wales, not on the boat, an adder making its way up a sand dune.
  11. No but we have one of these and its great http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TELECO-WING-TV-12V-24V-230V-AERIAL-ANTENNA-motorhome-boat-caravan-camper-08345-/181030280191?pt=UK_Campervan_Caravan_Accessories&hash=item2a263edbff and you can run it to two tv's most others only do one
  12. Mid wives that visited us were lovely and surprised that we didn't opt for a boat birth!
  13. No way near enough. We have a 3000w victron and the washing machine calls for additional power during its cycle, either generator or engine.
  14. Our boat only had a solid fuel range when we bought it, I fitted a gas cooker pretty quickly as didn't want a Rayburn lit all year around. We light the boatmans stove to dry washing, also to burn old paperwork.
  15. We've had runners pass us all morning in kings Langley. Amazing
  16. They do this every year, we see them here on London's outskirts, some looking like they wish they had never taken part! Fair play to them, we always qive them a cheer and tell they that they only have another 25 miles to go!
  17. Frightening. Glad you're now safe. Happened once to us on the Slough arm. A 4 and 6 year old! Called the police said where we were and they said that it happens all the time!
  18. Look at the character, those likely portacabin lines!
  19. My cat brings mice in, then releases them and looks puzzled when the mouse finds a hiding place behind the skirting! My cat brings mice in, then releases them and looks puzzled when the mouse finds a hiding place behind the skirting!
  20. Sorry you won't be there Alan. You'll be missed. Get well to the dog. Thanks for boat/people update, I'm sure that I'll hold them all up tomorrow, with the pair! 21. Ricky tomorrow. Great weather forecast, can't wait to get there, who's going? B x
  22. Not like Australia has, rabbits are taking over, what can we do? Let's introduce foxes! Also cats, pythons and all manner of other things, read Bill Brysons Down Under to see the full extent. You wouldn't want to stop and let the boat cat off there though?
