  1. Not really found much more than the info above. I assume you have either acquired one or are looking at one. All I can say is that we have been very happy with our ownership to date. Let me know if you have any specific questions.
  2. Hello! Yes thanks, we still have Willow but don't get out as often as we would like these days.
  3. Thanks again. I just found this thread https://www.canalworld.net/forums/index.php?/topic/29501-beta-38-what-are-your-operating-speeds/ which fits my symptoms pretty well. I think I will try upping the tension on the Morse throttle to run between 900 and 1000 when shifted into gear and leave idle at 800. Seems as if this within recommended range for the Beta 38. Cheers!
  4. Is the thrust plate the nylon ring in the shaft coupling? Yes PRM about 12 years old I think. I will tighten everything I can see and get to. Otherwise will need an engineer to take a look.. Cheers! Tick over is 800rpm rattle stops at around 1000 which feels too fast for tick over speed.
  5. Thanks Guys. Been boating for a few years but currently out cruising and more in tune with engine note and sounds. I was just looking for some confirmation about where to start looking. IIRC engine mounts should be tightened from below to make sure the prop shaft stays in alignment?
  6. I get a rumble/rattle at tick over when in gear. Goes away as soon as I apply a little throttle. Not happening in neutral. What should I be checking first? Thanks! Engine is Beta 38. Otherwise very smooth.
  7. So if it is terminal - can anyone recommend a less costly replacement? I know Squirrel is meant to be the Rolls Royce of stoves, but I can't afford to simply 'bung on another thousand' right now. Thanks!
  8. Hi Everyone, I recently arrived at my boat after a few weeks away and found an enormous crack across the stove top. Nothing could have dropped on it, and I assumed the cast iron was almost unbreakable. I dare not use it now and I have no alternative heating. Any thoughts - how did it happen - what to do - is this terminal - should I be looking for a new stove - can it be repaired - if so by whom? Thanks! Davo.
  9. Did you know that you can convert just about any bike to an electric bike including a Brompton folding bike - superb for lock-wheeling or shops etc.Kit is expensive at £800 but worth it. Google 'Electric Bike Sales' for details.Davo.
  10. Thanks for all the replies - I have just placed an order for the 1250 deg Victas HT silicone ... Just found a crack in the stove glass, so I guess this needs replacing before the safety cert check in December. Any tips for removing the old glass - can't seem to budge the screws with a screw driver. Cheers - Davo.
  11. I have been using this for a couple of years too - have had no problems or nasty smells ... was recommended to me by long time live aboard boaters and have never looked back ...
  12. Hello Everyone! I have a Morso Squirrel multi-fuel stove installed on my narrowboat. The chimney is attached to the stove top plate as opposed to the back plate. There is some light rust on the collar where the chimney meets the top plate and when I last lit the fire some smoke started leaking from around the collar joint. Does anyone have a recommendation about what to use to seal around the collar? I tried some stove cement but that cracked and flaked off as soon as the stove heated up… Thanks - Davo
  13. What do you use this for? Is it a common design for a weed hatch to be secured using nuts - or is this used for turning the prop? Thanks!
  14. Fantastic! So much knowledge on this forum! Thanks
  15. Sorry can't answer your question but curious about Tapatalk - what are the advantages over Safari access to the forums? Thanks - Davo
  16. Loved the previous post, but got me thinking about that ‘end of gas bottle’ smell. I know it can't be from a leak in the system, so anyone know what causes it? Just curious - Davo
  17. I am interested in any responses to this. I have a Morso squirrel with back boiler fitted but pipes are not connected. I also have a central heating pump installed in the engine bay but not connected to anything. What should I do? If someone could post a diagram it would be appreciated! Davo
  18. Just seen the ad in Towpath for e-canalmapp.co - any one tried it and would care to review? Thanks - Davo

  20. Thanks Phylis, I haven't been on a river yet so that sounds like fun. How easy is it to find river visitors moorings - it's not like the canals where you can moor just about anywhere along the tow path - or is it?
  21. The was looking at is this one ... Stoppage: Grand Union Leicester Line Kibworth Top Lock 18 - Kings Lock 38 02 Apr 2012 until further notice Associated Regional Office: South East Waterways From Monday 2nd April to Friday 13th April navigation will be open 10.00am - 4.00pm daily. From Friday 13th April at 4.00pm, navigation between Kibworth Top Lock 18 and Kings Lock 38 will be closed to navigation due to water availability in the area. Locks 18, 30 and 38 will be padlocked to avoid abuse. Weekend openings will be considered based on available water supplies as the season progresses and if possible, this will be communicated at a later date. I guess that's not technically Foxton which is Locks 8-17 ... but effectively means the same thing for my trip and I need to go somewhere else.
