  3. "Get rich Quick" By Robin Banks is a good read.

  5. I tried reading a book called "Successful Boat Trips" by the CIA but the pages were blank.
  6. There used to be or still is, a man on the K&A Bath locks who pretends to be BW. Telling boaters what they can and can't do. He wares a mock BW uniform (no logos). I was fooled by him on my first 4 trips there.
  7. Perhaps BW want an address to post the licence to.
  8. There is a church in Widecombe Bath that always has slogans on its roof. Such as "Prepare to meet thy God" Etc. On one side they had a slogan saying "Jesus Saves" Some one one night got onto the roof and wrote under this slogan "Not on my pay he couldn't" I thought it was brilliant !!
  9. Sorry you had a bad time at Banbury, I have moored there about 6 times and have had no problems but I might have been lucky. I usually moor below the lock opposite the elsan point, this seems to be a very quiet spot. We find the local takeaways very good and Morrisons close. My wife also finds the laundrette a god send. Sadly the takeaways are so close that I now weigh 15 stones
  10. Must admit I was too much of a coward to do this option, though it would be quicker.
  11. Where are you on the K&A? It took me 3 weeks to get from Devizes on the K&A to Birmingham.

  13. BW are not getting the money. The money goes to the Leisure Centre. They are selling you the facilities of their centre, showers/swimming pool etc.
  14. You don't have to pay, the Leisure Centre give the impression that a payment is required and is a con on their part. The first time I moored there I paid the fee thinking I had to. 2nd time I challanged the staff member and he just walked away.
  15. I think you are confusing Banbury with Burnley
  16. 2 hours down and two hours up, plus the terror of Bath deep lock. Worth doing if you can't moor at the top of the locks.
  17. What did you like about Burnley?
  18. Can't the house just burn down in a mystery fire? Simples
  19. I always try to moor there as it is very quiet, yet in the centre of things.
  20. You don't have to pay anything at Pultney. If you pay you can use the facilities at the leisure centre. Best place to moor is on the K&A top of the locks, it is a 10 min walk from there to the Abbey. It's a real pain going down the locks onto the river. It is very rare to have ropes cut, most times if at all, the ropes are undone not cut. I was cruising the K&A for 10 years and only twice had my ropes undone. I never came adrift as I always moor up with front, center and back ropes. It takes a lot of time for a yob to undo all the lines, plus I make sure he/she will have to get on the boat to do it.
