  1. hi all just a query, what kind of paperwork should i expect with a narrowboat on a private sale. As i have found a possible boat but a bit uneasy as no marina involved.

  4. no point having mobile im in the outbackk of wales with no signal hence work and home numbers was on brokerage but the gentleman says he made the decision not the vendor and he was in a difficult position.

  6. as you all know i had made an offer on a 40ft trad boat and this was accepted the recent survey was sent to me and i was told not to worry it was a first come first serve basis and as my offer was accepted and i had said i would definatly take the boat and had sent a deposit in the post on the friday evening as i am very far away from them, i phone the marina today to find out they have sold the boat over the weekend absolutely gutted the gentleman says he had tried to contact me which is rubbish they had my work and home number ( i never received a call ) im disgusted good boats in my price range do not come up that often. so annoyed
  7. pitting on baseplate is up to 1.2 mm and 0.5 on sides and at its thinnest the base plaste is 5.6mm. builder is unkhown pitting is quite widespread would filling the pitting be standard practice
  8. good to know that is still leaving 4.3 minimum

  10. 1)Thought you said pole side not starboard side 2)Its a stick up 3)coastguard say driver was half cut 4)yes sir your boat safety cert is in the post
  11. well we are awaiting our offer to be officialy accepted today she is a little project.mainly interior with a few other bits nothing too scary (although i dont scare easily)lol she is 40ft trad boat and 29yrs old we didnt want a perfect boat as we enjoy making things good and how we wnt them have done many cars trikes 1 offshore cruiser but must admit my first narrowboat so will be the bain of all your lives pestering for advice. sounds fun my two are 3 and 1 so gonna wait a little bit first although they love being on the waterways already.
  12. thanks all for warm welcome will be keeping feet on land for now at least till the kids grow up then we fully intend to liveaboard
  13. just a hello to all on the forum. wanted to introduce mself and my wife who are just purchasing our first narrowboat it is a little bit of a project but after taking many holidays on the waterways we are sure it will be worth it when finished.reading through some other posts already gained valuable information. so thank you already
