Hi gang Has anybody sailed their boat across the English channel to the french system? I have heard that 3-4 boats are tied together with a large boom and they either motor across under their own steam or get towed by a trawler. I also believe that a company does this. The gland packing was replaced and everything was reset, do you think I should do it again? I dont know what the gearbox is at the moment but it is a ord escort engine cheers bob

I am fairly new to boat maintenance but I am having a problem with my prop housing bearing overheating and burning all the grease out and seizing up. This happened after I dragged a bed pillow/string/ mattress on my prop for an hour before realising what was happening. I cleaned the prop out and then had to have my engine mountings reset/tightened but after about 30 hours of cruising the housing started heating up and my cruising speed had to be reduced to about 1/1/2 MPH. I would like to check this out myself and repair it or change it. Has anybody done this that can advise me on how to do it.
