  1. I want to use 13 pin caravan trailer connectors but being new they are hard to find.
  2. I notice in your blog that you have fitted one of those plastic water tanks with the large (8+ " ?) filler caps. Can I ask you: Are those enormous caps water tight? How did you connect your filler pipe? How do you know when it is full when filling? Or do you have some sort of valve? Did you insulate the tank against condensation, and if so how? How much effort did you put into preventing the tank moving around? TIA I have bought two of these and am now wondering how to connect them.
  3. I keep the time when no can is on the gun to a minimum, about 3 seconds when changing them, and always leave a can on until it is exhausted. They can stay on for months at a time. But I believe the cans themselves have a shelf life.
  4. I've used 13 cans of fire grade foam in my gun so far without it clogging up over a 9 month plus period. Am I lucky or what?
  5. Put it on castors, with brakes. Roll it up to front when you are socialising on the stern, and back to stern when you are in the bow, with cabling to suit. Bizz, where are you?
  6. But not if you have a sensor-max as per OP.

  8. Off Topic: You are aware that you are advised to have a pressure reduction valve before most typical UK calorifiers as this pump can produce surges nearer 5 bar and most UK calorifiers are 3.5bar max? Or so I understand the Jabsco advice. Email them if you need to. They will answer.
  9. Just a thought. If the panelling has lifted very slightly off the metal structures it is meant to be attached to so that air flow can take place then I would expect condensation on the metal to be much worse that if the same same panelling is properly attached. In such a case then if gunk/adhesive etc can be injected in to fill the very thin gap (how?) then a considerable improvement might be achieved even though negligible additional insulation is taking place.
  10. My take on antifreeze: Don't taste it. You wonder why there are more cases of cancer these days? I'm not saying it does, just that nobody knows that it doesn't. A careless approach to chemicals must be part of the cause. Don't use stronger concentrations than 50% as the antifreeze is not as good a carrier of heat as water AND it is bad for some rubber type components. The antifreeze is necessary for the corrosion inhibitors even if you don't expect frost (you keep your boat at home in the bedroom). Get a tester they are dirt cheap. My sailaway was supplied with no antifreeze (not my idea), the logic being the system would be refilled anyway when the calorifier was fitted. Then I forgot. But I have no claim to being an expert in this area. Edit Last time I researched it on the web the consensus seemed to be: Blue AF lasts 2 years Pink AF lasts maybe 5 years Mixing pink and blue causes no problems but must then be treated as Blue ie 2 years

  12. Hey, I never thought of cutting the hoppers! That's a great idea, thank you very much!
  13. Lots of bus windows here. I just block off those that I don't need as I don't need them, i.e. towpath side or strong sun side. Starting again I would have less than I have now (a lot) but not portholes. Grilles are my answer to the security side of the problem.
  14. Looked at the questions, couldn't believe that anything useful could be obtained from such simplistic questions, and gave up. Sorry.
  15. Do you expect to get the old windlass back? Or are you just arming the natives?
  16. I have downloaded the old canal additional map to my new etrex 20 successfully using a mac but I used a round-about route so it may require a different unzip for you. My problem was not realising that the resulting map, with an external filename of gsupmapp or something similar would be called "output.file" in the list of maps on the etrex. Additionally the supplied map on the etrex is poor. Getting the thing fully setup is very much a bit of a faff, and I have not got there yet. The device itself looks very good. Do a search on etrex on this forum for more detail.
  17. Is it worth replacing the bolts before they seize up, in anticipation? Whilst they are still moveable?

  20. So why can't you buy and add the anti-corrosion agents separately? I bet there is not more than a tablespoon's worth in there.
  21. I'd hate to have my boat broken into by a dead body. Keep breaking-in live I say! (With apologies to the Musician's Union)

  24. I had it for a week or so about a month ago & I found washing my hands more frequently seemed to get rid of it.
