  1. Can someone tell us what the hell a greenie is. My husband is under the impression it's something he stood in on the towpath!!
  2. We had every intention of putting the whole story on the Internet, but haven't found out how to do it yet. When we were told that someone had been asking we knew it was on this forum somewhere but couldn't find it so decided to put new thread on to answer those who had been asking. Not going into all the details as yet, there was an awful lot of things. If anyone wants to check it started off in Northwich County Court, which closed. Then Crewe. So if anyone wants to check they can.
  3. The Black and Gold boat (the one they were sued over) which was brand new and supposed to be bespoke built, had already been bought back before I asked questions about surveys and props for another boat.
  4. I was told about a week ago by a boater friend about a topic which had sprung up on here. It was regarding the owner of a new boat, built by Orchard Marina and Boatbuilders, suing them. Can't seem to find it now for some reason. However, we were the owners of the boat in question and don't appreciate the subject being brought up. So to stop any further speculation let's just say that they were sued successfully, we got a full refund and now have another boat. So for all those who were asking questions lets hope that's the end of the subject.
  5. Know just where you mean. Have passed there loads of times. Always a problem. Seems to be moor where you want, no legal requirements. Dog eat dog world if you want to moor. Most hire boat companies are the same.
  6. Is a 17 x 11 Prop Suitable with a Barrus Shire 45E engine with a 150 hydrualic gearbox, for cruising on rivers. There is also another prop with this boat which is a 18 x 12 but at 1000rpm it has a slight humming noise. Comments would be appreciated.
  7. I was quite happy with a boat I recently viewed, 9 years old, hull shotblasted and repainted with Coflex and very well looked after, until everyone started saying ' you really should get a survey done'. The boat has a new BSC and everything else seems good. Would value other opinions. (This is not my first boat). Thanks
  8. Just wondered if there is anyone out there who has a Chilli Penguin Stove on their boat, if you've had any problems with it and overall opinion. Thanks
  9. A few weeks ago my Husband & I probably encountered the same unpleasant 'Gentleman'. We have friends who live in Southport and earlier this year enquired at Scarisbrick Marina if it was possible to stay for a couple of nights or so. No problem, turn up when ready, £9 per night. A few weeks ago we turned up and were met by this individual who very rudely informed us that we must book 14 days in advance as it takes them that long to do the paperwork - what paperwork I ask they only need your BW number and boat name, if that - also we had not paid a depost - so what, we would pay now - and to top it all he expects people to stay for a minimum of 14 nights!!! So needless to say we were happy to leave. We then remembered that prior to us getting our boat we had enquired about a mooring at Fettlers Wharf (Hitlers is probably more apt), and when we explained that we would be live aboard and a motorhome would be our only form of transport we were told that motorhomes were not accepted, they are a blot on the landscape, naturnally we looked elsewhere. We have since found a wonderful marina where everyone is very friendly and helpful and it is far nicer and more beautiful that Scarisbrick and Fettlers put together can every be. All I can say is that the 'gentleman' we encountered, whether he be the owner or manager needs to go and learn some customer relationship and business skills. Scarisbrick has over 200 mooring, most of which are vacant, revenue is revenue no matter how large or small the amount.
