    Moorings

Looking for a new mooring around the Marple area for a live aboard. Starting to work nights again and don't want to leave the wife moored on towpath. Tried New mills, lyme view (who are sick of dogs) and Vic pits. Any help much appreciated
  2. we are doing the 4 Cs however we will be coming down the Macclesfield from Br13 where we moor. we are going anti clockwise as the idea of coming up heartbreak hill after a relaxing 17 days doesn't appeal to me.
  3. Thank you, that explains everything
  4. We Came up the Bosley flight on Saturday, and had fair few helpers, we had a chat with most if not all. I even had to laugh when the lady driving out of a lock decided to make me wait whilst she brewed up (you know who you are) All in all a pleasant day and a laugh to boot
  5. I was told today that coverit, the canopy people have gone bump. can anyone confirm this please
  6. I had forgot about the Bugsworth Gala. So its Bollington for us and a walk up to the poachers for food and beer
  7. Tin snail.................................................Brilliant
  8. What has everyone got planned for the upcoming Easter weekend? The wife and I shall be heading to Bugsworth Basin for a shandy or two in the Navigation
  9. Roll on Friday morning, this is when the wife and I collect our new home. Our old boat went last Thursday but due to work commitments and stoppages on the Macclesfield canal we decided to leave her where she was and stay at my mother and father in laws for a week, seemed like a good idea at the time. .
  10. quick update. a full survey was done on the boat I was looking at, and it took just over 4 hours. I have the survey report back, and apart from a few minor things, and a couple in red, we have decided to continue with the purchase. The red points were clear the intentionally blocked front door vents, and replace an RCD. she is now being blacked as I type this. Happy days
  11. its a full survey on a 57ft trad costing £428 I think
  12. thanks to all for your comments
  13. Thanks for the replies. Switch A is dead as it shows but B is still OK. It was fine last night I'm sure. The master switches are under the floor in the engine bay, so I don't think they have been knocked as I haven't been in there for a few days.
  14. Hi all can anyone please advise why one of my battery switches seems not to be working. I came home from work and this is what greater me. Sorry I'm not very technical
  15. oh thanks I had heard that all day was the norm, however I did think this was excessive
  16. Thank you, im off to spend the day with my surveyor just out of interest how long does a full survey usually take?
  17. is it quite common for the buyers to be present when a survey is being carried out? ive never heard of it that's all
  18. Thanks everyone I will have a look later when I am back home
  19. Morning all, I have been getting my boat ready for a jolly up the cut for a holiday. Yesterday I tried my tunnel light and nothing, I changed the bulb twice, still nothing. I removed the light and checked the wire running to it with my electrical screwdriver and that didn't light up. I really don't want to start removing panels on the ceiling and all that sort of thing, As electrics are not my thing, I was wondering if anyone can shed some light on this (no pun intended) I really need this sorting out before Friday as we are off
  20. Hi all, I have searched for this but cannot find anything. What I want to know is can I turn my batteries off/ isolate them whilst on shore power? We are live aboards. Many thanks
  21. Anyhow seen as Mandy wasnt asking about JSA, NHS or any other government help, does it really matter. Mandy back to your original post,as long as you enjoy yourself and chill out along the way I cant see too many problems, in what your doing. You can tie up to lift bridges so as to get on and off with ease. The Macc and Peak Forest are beautiful canals Have fun
  22. My wife and I took the plunge last July (so to speak) sold the house and bought a boat. Well we have just done our first winter aboard, and although not a particularly harsh one, we have survived. Whats more we actually enjoyed it. The peace and quiet which we got from empty tow paths, and the lovely feeling of coming home from work to a nice warm boat. Roll on the Spring and Summer and the tranquil days on the cut
  23. I was recently quoted £400 for the wood alone so if this is so let me know who qouted you so I can order one
  24. Knowing Dave personally I dont think a few names or egg throwing will bother him that much. Dave is a genuine guy who believes in his views, as we all do. I meant will not bother him
  25. The company which has done ours (crap and shoddy work) took photos and said he would add them to their web page, he got offended when I asked him if he didnt want anymore work when people saw what he could do. We are currently taking legal action over this matter, so as you all can appreciate I wont or cant mention names at the moment. We asked for a cratch and recieved a fan, as the guy in question said he has to buy the wood in and at £400 just for the wood he said he couldnt justify spending that much money, I did point out that it wasnt his money that he was spending, but we still ended up with a fan. I havent paid him the outstanding balance, and he hasnt been back, although he wants us to return what he has done......................................................... fat chance, all we wanted for our brand new boat was something that was in keeping with what is too my wife and our perfect home. Just taken a look at the link Molly has placed on here and I have to say they do look the part, I may be leaning towards Kinver covers as I have heard so much about them.
