  1. If you are still doing this on your original timeframe, then both of those will be a non issue by that time.
  2. We came up Hatton on Sunday, no flies present
  3. But he is not going to be able to go the Trent route in the next 2 to 3 weeks, so over the Pennines is really the only practical route. Or go the simple way and put it on a truck if time is short.
  4. I also had a problem raising Upper Lode a couple of years ago, called on VHF, no response, called on telephone, no response. As we were going down and there is a pontoon, moored up and my wife walked to the lock, and eventually found the lock keeper, I think he was fixing his car or something!
  5. Nah, more spreadsheet, better plan, less locks 😀
  6. I too am rather disappointed that this in not a spreadsheet issue, been brushing up my skills updating my BCN Challenge spreadsheet.

  9. You are supposed to get the boat repainted after the challenge, not before! Anyway our entry is also in 🙂

  13. Me neither! Glad you enjoyed it, and without wanting to just state the obvious, whilst the trip boats do get a rock on, if you are well tied to the bollards with your ropes tight then you should not move.
  14. Don’t know about the shower thing, but I would not have said that Lapworth is that bad, Cambrian Wharf is a slow one and slower than Lapworth, which is mad given where it is you would think it would have a very good flow. Off the top of my head I would say that Lower Hayford has to be a contender for slowest.
  15. It’s not there, but you can book it by phone if you want to
  16. I believe it includes electricity
  17. They seem it manage that without an issue on other flights, Lapworth and Hatton spring to mind.
  18. I got fed up of waiting for the Liverpool Link to be put back on the booking site, so I messaged CRT and they called me back and I have booked it over the phone. If you are interested, it is still passages every day other than Tuesday and it is £15 a night (up from £10 last year).
  19. I actually thought that in the past I have seen the notices for a specific time of day as well. As this is supposed to only be for exceptional movement in and out of the marinas that seems the correct way for it working.
  20. I guess that could be what it means, but it is not how it reads to me. Why would it not have to be booked for a certain day, and time of day, as that lets people avoid it
  21. I thought the CRT said there was no widebeam mooring on the narrow North Oxford when accessing the marinas there, but this booking is to spend two nights on the canal while making the passage. I know the North Oxford is shut further north so there will not be a lot of traffic, but seems a bit off. Oxford Canal Location: Wide beam passage, Braunston to Dunchurch Pools Starts At: Bridge 93/94, Braunston Junction Ends At: Bridge 81, Borstal Bridge Sunday 18 February 2024 09:00 until Tuesday 20 February 2024 10:00 Type: Advice Reason: Information Original message: Please be advised a wide beam boat will be passing through Braunston to Dunchurch Pool from Sunday 18th February to Tuesday 20th February morning. We kindly remind boating customers to be aware of the wide-beam boat and take extra care whilst passing through this section of the canal.
  22. I think I am right in saying, as this is part of the later straightening, Brindley had be dead for 60 years before this section was constructed, so I don’t think he can be blamed!
  23. There is good mooring above Tardebigge locks at the wharf, and then a run through the tunnel to take the boat back next morning, so I would say that is not a reason to decide you have to go anti-clock.
