  1. I'm not quibbling, I'm just recommending they look a bit closer at something that on the surface looks right, but at 26 years old, may be hiding a multitude of problems. I do note that you selectively quoted my post and missed the elephant in the room of the engine bay.
  2. The abnb brochure and spiel are rather good at hiding what they don't want you to see. How many abnb brochures don't show the engine bay??........(none......make sure you look down there if you visit) No battery for bowthruster and perhaps fit something to stop the starter battery flattening? ? Kitchen is a newer set of units to rest of fitout. Stove/flue join with more cement than rugby cement factory. It is a very basic boat which looks like it has been used as a flat on a landline by the last owner for a while, whether rented out or personal use. ...you can't tell. Probably just about right price in today's daft market, doesn't make it an ideal boat though.
  3. Anchor at hartshill,,Rugeley visitor moorings, the carvery at festival park and then bottom end of Middlewich (the big Lock). I prefer the Shroppie but thought that hire crews /fishing competitions and a broken lock on the Middlewich branch might slow me down a bit!!!!
  4. You will probably find that you need a higher bore pipe....22mm or larger feeding the Rinnai. It'd ok to have 15mm from it though.
  5. I did it from Norton Junction late August in 4 days, so a week is quite sensible at this time of year. I would suggest Alrewas or Fradley, Great Haywood, Festival Park rather than the Tunnel entrance at Harecastle. Bluebell Inn at Kidsgrove, Middlewich, go down Anderton lift and have a day on the River Weaver. This allows lots of spare time for inclement weather and visiting places - something I don't have the luxury of doing when moving boats.
  6. Indeed ☺ There are many marinas with yards and separate tunnels etc. It works well when people work together, and can get uncomfortable when they don't. Pump outs, you will probably find the moorers get discounted or free pump outs from a single point, although some marinas have a suction hole on every pontoon.!!!! Tis a nice place however, probably not quite a large enough marina for the workshop to exist on its own, especially after Valley Cruisers moves elsewhere. Boot Wharf, Alvecote , barry Hawkins yard and charity dock are on the same stretch without even heading up the Ashby.
  7. Visitor mooring implies that a visitor may be able to find a mooring there at some point, Victoria Park is not that location.
  8. I have single handed the Trent a few times, I always use centre line only, up or down.
  9. did you look at the weld between the straight and the circle ...... I wouldnt trust it with a helium baloon in a gale. They are also very soft steel, the pin head soon mashes down and splinters.
  10. the latest Middling Swindlers ones could be termed as dress pins they are so flimsy.
  11. I struggled to get the back end in on Monday, turning was bringing up masses of silt which will obviously sit under the remaining 3 or 4 boats moored there if they don't move very often. The boat in the article is the nearest to the facility block so hasn't got to worry about anything sanitation wise, however, there is no refuse facility there any more, and the surrounds are neglected to the point of shabbiness. There was also a lot of floating and sunk litter there. Towing the boat to another mooring in the same basin will not solve anything. Towing the boat to another local CRT mooring will probably inconvenience the ill boater as he will have to have transport to get to doctors and other facilities. Dredging the basin is long overdue. Repairing the fences off the road is probably overdue too. However, CRT probably think that if they continue to do nothing, money will continue to be paid until the basin is as empty as the one next to their old office at Fazeley Junction, tamworth.
  12. Very detailed and concise information mods, can this be a pinned topic in one of the waterways journeys folders.
  13. I've only ever found the flood gates shut when on amber, or late October to march, which has been standard for years.
  14. Sawley flood lock wide open yesterday morning , the Trent is currently very low.
  15. Indeed, flatten the lower bit and it looks like a tunnel view. Flatten it, sit on it, twist it and straighten it out again......it a training run for Braunston
  16. The top deal is only £16 if you have the mifi !!!! , work that one out. The router is with 3 as well.
  17. Free Huawei mifi too. If you really want to push the boat out, you can get a wifi router with 100gb PLUS the tv channels for £30 a month. It has sockets for external 3g and 4g ariel input as well. It's a 240v unit, but operates through a transformer plug to run on 12v. Get rid of the plug and wire into a stabilised 12v supply and you are laughing.
  18. I've just taken a £16 for 40gb plus eat all you can Netflix and some other channels on 3.
  19. I think you are both wrong. Thus chap could set up a thriving business here. Move people's boats 2 Miles and one lock whilst they are at work and then move the next one 2 Miles and one lock. Build up a good client base and you could make a fortune ,co-ordinating boat moves west or east from Kensal Green to Stonebridge and back. You could probably shuffle 8 boats every day and never have to worry about finding a mooring as you just moor where the next one is. Find out who's away for a few days and thats the accommodation issue sorted. SImples. ☺
  20. Was that you on the green boat just past there on Saturday??
