  1. C&RT tell us lots of things that stretch the truth or hope that you dont investigate further and find out that they were incorrect.
  2. I dont know why you are blaming GenZ, the people buying with no clue are all ages.
  3. It's a version of the Supertap.. Inside.. The bottom part unscrews from the top, where you can just see the nut to anchor with a spanner, probably 19, or 22 Spare washers ... We keep the cassette washers in stock for all three sizes. If you have any enquiries concerning this manufacturer, give us a call to discuss your needs. Keith – Tel : 07583 406 571
  4. Actually, CRT have more than a small part of blame in this. In about 2013/14 CRT announced that it was going to contact all brokerages and issuing a 'Welcome Pack' to be given out with each boat sale. This would explain the licensing, BSS, relevant terms and conditions, bylaws and a mini Good Boaters guide. It was also going to warn of insufficient movement of Boaters Without a Home Mooring resulting in shortened licences (6month, 3 month, and then refusal of licence). This never happened, wasnt followed up, so people can just buy a boat and chug off without actually knowing anything at all, and this has become more and more apparent in the last couple of years. So, yes, CRT ARE blame-able.
  5. We have used 3.2.mm x 15 mm pop rivets on the latest boat, black ones as the new windows are black too. Never had a problem with the steel shaft rusting. We always use neoprene tape to seal windows and portholes, this boat has a 14" porthole and the Wesley windows tape curves nicely , Midland Chandlers not so nicely.
  6. Mud, trolleys, wet wipes, panty pads and sewage...
  7. Ah, what happens when you go away for a weekend...come home and there are 2 boats moored across the marina entrance, one a widebeam. Apparently it appeared yesterday, was asked not to moor over the marina and just ignored requests. Both pins were pulled out within hours of mooring up and kind people re-tied the ropes as the fatty was vacated as soon as it arrived. The small boat moved 200 yards further down when asked, the fatty has been dragged back as far as it can go, and retied securely to the piling. I didnt plant the nettles.
  8. Ah, it was you....you do get a glimpse of Dougal at the end of the video.😀 Just passing Dougal now!! Weve got (some of) the grandkids tommorow.
  9. You have to do both gunwales on the same day, or risk the boat rolling over and over.
  10. Anyhow, nowt to do with his stove, but I think @Annie cariad might feel better with a tot of this stuff...
  11. @Paul J @nigel carton
  12. Do you all have to ship out on one night then??
  13. Yes, they do degrade, moreso if not used for long periods as the same sections are stretched round the pulleys, if damp, those same sections may also adhere to the pulleys....leaving some rubber once rotated again.
  14. I used to hanker after this, then realised I already had 2 Houdini hatches so just turn the boat upside down when needing my murky bottom view fix.
  15. At last, a boat down at prices that will not break the bank at a local broker.
  16. Vote for a party that will reverse the corrupt idiocy that is Brexit, and hope the EU will actually have us back.
  17. That was brave with the rainfall and Nene being like it has ... The Great Ouse came out of strong stream on Wednesday morning and was back on by early Friday
  18. Oh dear... Dont use sand. nothing wrong with using sand so long as it is dried in an oven and paint stirred regularly whilst using it. Buy a pack of non slip granules and follow the directions. international do a nice fine granule pack.Again, mix thoroughly (power drill and paddle recommended, and stir whilst using. I put first topcoat on then final topcoat on before it has fully cured, (read directions) and the granules are mixed with the second coat, stir frequently. I would do 2 topcoats and and a final no slip coat....the roof takes all the weather abuse. I use 4 " rollers plus a 2 inch brush. If you have to leave first topcoat too long you need to sand it before the second coat. you only need to key the top coat, sanding removes too much paint. I do my gunwales this way, its not an expensive additive. There is somethibg called raddle red traditionally used on boat roofs. nothing traditional about it, Phil Speight invented it to fit in with the Craftsmaster range as a non-porous matt finish topcoat alternative to Red Oxide.
  19. They did get it just under 5, target was 3%
  20. Today's level vs Friday.... The small boat had absolutely no chance of rising, chained 90° to the piling.
  21. The boat is moored appropriately, however, he is moored opposite other boats who are moored on Waterside Moorings(CRT moorings) and has already complained several times on here about mooring with boats moored officially on the offside.....
  22. Ow many boats?? Looks like a good turnout. Make the most of the weather, it goes downhill from end of tommorow.....another 10 days of rain.
  23. Nothing other than the boat has been hanging around the same 1/2 mile stretch for 4 months on a CC licence (other than when he returned to Whilton for coating repairs) One boat going through isnt the problem, 2 boats meeting, especially if one of those happens to be widebeam will.cause a problem or collision. I know you have a widebeam Mike, but there is a new breed of owners who really dont care about anyone else on the canal except themselves.
