  1. The classic example is all the Tory MPs turning up at their local hospital with a box/2 boxes of chocolates on Christmas Eve.....with photographer present....
  2. More likely a police aware sticker.
  3. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 10 posts to view.
  4. It'll come to you one of these Dais...
  5. The 'canal' , where the water the boats float on usually sit about 2 feet below the towpath, rose to waist height above the towpath with a very strong flow. Unless you are used to rivers, and floods, where you have to be up every hour to monitor your lines and where the bank is, you are very much at risk.....something many new liveaboards dont realise until it's too late. The Soars levels were unprecedented, rainfall like that is NOT normal, however, may well be the new normal.
  6. I saw your comments on the YouTube thread Rick, sad news, the whole pontoon ripped away at 3am! If climate change keeps things getting worse, you will need a penny farthing on the towpaths soon
  7. This is exactly what the Brokers organisation are saying, regardless previous rules. Of course some brokers will ignore this, and sell boats anyway, and some surveyors will not dig deep enough to ascertain whether everything matches either.
  8. As I said on the other thread, they are pretty much DIY, no standard, the mooring in question was quite a low one with scaffold risers. The Soar has been at record high, so even time tested moorings will have had a new test of durability.
  9. Last one that went there wasnt removed until about 3 weeks later for that reason..
  10. Last time I was there, I was moored about 12 feet below there....
  11. Unfortunately, I still have to work for a living and its dark when I finish. Chucking it down in the Nene catchment area again for the last 2 hours... It's from half way down the north side of the park, facing towards Loughborough. Either its scaffolding poles have given way, or the whole mooring has been torn away, they are all DIY jobs on that stretch....albeit most have seen many years of floods. The Soar is at unprecedented levels.
  12. Yep, although I dont know Mum...
  13. Black River Canal, Northern New York State. Connected Erie canal to the Black River. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_River_Canal
  14. Yes, the one that widebeams like to moor opposite from so you have no choice but to go through it!
  15. This tree has been the bane of boaters for years, never getting cut back .... Let's hope all the widebeams going through Blisworth tommorow are already there...
  16. That's amazing, no fall at all at that lock, the Leicester city storm drains come in just below there, and it is usually the most polluted, rubbish filled, and prop jamming stretch anywhere I have ever cruised(including the Walsall).
  17. 100% narrowbeam, although the wide angle bed shot could be 20 feet across
  18. Cogenhoe has similar problems, as does Cosgrove Park next to the GU with the Great Ouse spilling out.
  19. That's the gates that are at max capacity, graph flatlining... The road over Barrow Bridge towards Quorn/Loughborough is also underwater.....massive problems in that area now!!
  20. Those gates at Millers Bridge, and the ones at Moor Lane Bridge are about 30 years overdue for replacement and wouldnt have a chance of stopping that flow....
  21. Looks like Pillings Lock "Flood free marina" will be having a few problems then!! The town is currently underwater in the Belton Road.
  22. I hope they are on the ball today Richard, the Soar is higher than it has ever been, through the centre of Leicester, and Loughborough is in danger of serious flooding as the Pillings defence has overtopped. I had to go a very torturous route yesterday to reach Sileby, where the brook flooded over for the 2nd time this week.
