  1. We took C'est la Vie up the Basingstoke Canal as far as Brookwood a couple of Easter's ago. The ranger(s) were very helpful and pleased to see a boat using the canal. There is a thread on this Forum somewhere, telling all about the trip. We bought our "plaque" at TLC in Byfleet on the way back. Just ring and ask if they will open up! Having said that, River Wey is in flood at the moment, so getting there may be tricky, but at least there should be no water shortage on the Basingstoke? Jo.
  2. Thanks for this. I think I need to find out how regularly is "regularly" !! Jo. Thanks! I know they have electricity, and presumably water, but do they have other facilities such as Elsan? Jo.
  3. Our boat has been to the Saltisford Arm - it says so on the plaque on the hatch doors. So we have to go there sometime. Thanks for the reminder! Jo.
  4. [ Thanks very much for this - I will look into it. Can you remember if there are "poles" in case of flooding? Jo. Thanks for this reply. Lots to think about! Jo.
  5. Hi Everyone We are thinking of changing our mooring location either later this year or maybe next. I would quite like to go to Evesham on the River Avon, and wondered if there was anyone on the Forum who is moored in this area, either at Evesham Marina or nearby? Thanks Jo
  6. Good to hear you are getting out for a cruise Nick. Hope you have a good time and the weather is kind. Will pm you. Jo.
  7. Congratulations - Have a great day and take lots of photos.
  8. I spoke to a BBC member the other day, who said that at this stage Weyside 2012 was still going ahead. But time will tell, I suppose. Jo.
  9. Dave, there may be 4 inches of diesel in the bottom of the tank - but that will not help you if the outlet is 5 inches from the bottom of the tank. This was our classic mistake first time out with our boat, and we ended up being towed home. However, I leave it to the experts to pinpoint the main problem here. Jo.
  10. Just heard about this; I will have two very disappointed girls tonight (together with all their schoolmates) who were busy organising their pageant costumes! We planned to meet local boating friends there for a BBQ and (water permitting) will still do so. If the reason is low water table, then I would have thought that would have also curtailed anything organised for the Basingstoke? Jo.
  11. How awful. He sounds like such a lovely chap. Not enough of his type around in the world - shame to lose one so young.
  12. Congratulations, very exciting time for you. Looking forward to the pictures. We have a Colecraft, more by good luck than design, and we are very happy with it. Welcome to the cut. I am sure April will be glorious weather too Jo.

  14. Sounds like someone may have lost their home - not a good thing at any time, but its Christmas, and cold...

  17. Oops! Yes, we did consider the glare from the roof and asked a couple of people who had the same roof, and they did not have a problem with it, so we went ahead. I wear my sunnies, and hope for the best. If it does become a problem, then we will have a re-think. The paint job was by Carnzu Boats at Farncombe Boat House, Godalming. As you can see from the photos, they do not have a dry dock and did it on the water under a polytunnel. Signwriting by Dean Box. Hi Paul, Carnzu Boats, Farncombe - no slots left until 2013, so worth booking up soon if you think its what you are looking for. I am very pleased with the job.
  18. Hi All I have tried here to add some photos, sorry they are so big. They are of our recent repaint. The boat moored next to us features in some of the pictures as we have not been able to leave the mooring since they finished the job to get some better shorts. Anyway, hope you like them. I started off with a couple of "before" photos.......
  19. Hi, I have some photos to share, which I have uploaded to my Photobucket album, but cannot quite remember what to do next. Do I just cut and paste the IMG code for each photo, or is there more to it? Thanks if anyone can help. I have lost my step by step directions I used to have Jo.
  20. Just wanted to share my happiness. C'est la Vie has just had a repaint by Carnzu at Farncombe Boathouse, with signwriting by Dean Box. They have done a terrific job. I was amazed to find every surface of the boat looking like it was brand new. Pity its Winter now and we are stuck here until March (due to lock maintenance rather than inertia). I just can't wait to show her off. As soon as I have worked out how to re-size the photos to something useable, I will upload some pics. Happy Happy. Jo.
  21. Agreed. Very sad. Condolences to her family. Jo.
